Childhood Vaccine Recalled
By MIKE STOBBE – 55 minutes ago
ATLANTA (AP) — Merck & Co. is recalling about a million doses of a childhood vaccine, after testing showed a sterilization problem in a Pennsylvania factory.
The company is not aware of any harm to children who received the vaccine, known as Hib, which prevents meningitis and pneumonia. It is a three-dose shot recommended for all children under 5 and is usually given to infants starting at two months old.
The recall involves 10 lots of Hib vaccine and two lots of a combination vaccine for both Hib and hepatitis B, a Merck spokeswoman said.
She said the company did not find contamination in the vaccine itself, but in the plant where the vaccine is produced in West Point, Pa.

Haridas's 3rd Bithday!
Here's the birthday boy on his special day!
We had a great time celebrating on Monday, October 8th. The day began with opening presents and honoring a homemade apple pie made by Papa with Macintosh apples from Maine (compliments of Lynda). Thank you to everyone who sent him wonderful gifts, cards, and well wishes on his special day! He loves everything that was given to him!
Next, we drove to the other side of the island and joined our Spritual Master, Srila Bodhayan Maharaja, for a dip in the ocean, where he carried Haridas in the water!
Then we went to my favorite beaches, where a bunch of our friends were also celebrating birthdays for two of Haridas's friends' dads.
Haridas is ready to ride some waves on his new floating board! Check out beautiful Kua Bay in the background.
This is almost our whole crew of friends swimming in the beautiful, blue ocean:
Grampa and Navin let Mama go swim for a while!
The grand finale was visiting our Gurudeva (Spiritual Master) where he was staying before leaving to India. He blessed both Haridas and Navin.
Here they are, so happy to be home after such an exhausting special day!

Busy Bees
I'm sorry I haven't posted anything recently. Blogspot wouldn't let me sign in for a while, and now it's working with a firefox instead of safari.
Ok, so I haven't posted recently also because it has been a very busy week for us here. Our Spiritual Master, Srila Bhakti Bibuddha Bodhayan Maharaja has blessed us with his presence as well as classes every evening for 5 days straight now. Tomorrow we will visit him in Kona on his last day before returning to India.
Monday is Haridas's 3rd birthday, so we will be celebrating with a special breakfast and then going to the wonderful white sand beaches of Kona where all of our friends will be. I hope it all goes well and we will have lots of pictures to share.
Here's some pictures of the silly boy, who can operate the computer quite well all by himself, as he came and took these pictures without me even knowing it! What a silly boy!

6 Weeks Gone By
I don't know how time can go by so fast and so slow at the same time, but here we are 6 weeks after the birth of Navin and all is well. He is getting bigger and bigger everyday and cuter, too! He can see more and laughs and smiles more, too. Here we are with the good old baby carrier that makes us all happy campers:
Haridas had a turn, too, after a long time of me not being able to carry him. He insisted on a front carry like a little baby, even though he's so big! It was his turn to be in Navin's shoes, or carrier I should say!
I took my two boys on a long walk today and we had so much fun! I'm so glad to be out and about again! This was the longest I've used to Freehand mei tai for, and it was incredibly comfortable the whole time. Navin slept the whole time, so I think he liked it, too! He would surely sleep all the time if I never took him out!

Out And About
We have done well going out 3 times now with Navin after a month a not leaving the house. He doesn't particularly like the carseat, but does seem to be quite entertained by this big world. I must admit that it's a lot easier just being at home!
